2014 NBA Playoffs Round 1 History

History has been made quite a bit in this years NBA playoffs. A playoff's so competitive that a contender for the Finals in the West could be kicked in Round 1 as a result of matchup problems... take Houston for example (their weakest position PF and then PG are the Blazer's two All-Star studs Lillard and Aldridge), resulting in a Blazer win in 6 games.

I think people forgot how dominant the Blazers were to start this season, though they dropped a little bit as the season went on, they were also developing youth and rotations.  Aldridge was also hurt for a bit, which can hurt overall records (look at Memphis 29-30 game record without Marc Gasol this season). Clippers and Warriors round 1 has been really competitive, and even Dallas is giving the Spurs a run for their money.

But the East seemed like Indy and Miami had it locked up, until about 3 weeks left in the season when Indy imploded.  Atlanta, the only sub .500 team in the playoffs and 8 seed in the East surprised them, along with Jeff Teague's play, and took them to game 7 at home where Indy and Roy Hibbert finally got on track. The Heat series is the only series to go as planned, 4 quick short games. Washington proved it's legit in 5 games over the Bulls, especially with Nene back.  They could upset someone.  The winner of Toronto and Brooklyn could do the same!

So while the playoffs have been extremely competitive, let's look at these crazy records being set in Round 1:

NBA PLAYOFF RECORDS:

-23 Round 1 Wins on the Road
-32 Round 1 Games Decided by 5 or less points
-5-6 Series go 7 Games in Round 1
-24 FOUR POINT PLAYS in Playoffs
-Most OverTimes in a Round 1 (7)
-Most Consecutive OT Games in a Series (Blazers/Rockets at 3 or 4)
-Westbrook has set some individual 25pt/10reb/15ast+ Trip Dub Game 7 record (as well as some trip dub record with 30+points and 20+ missed shots, not exactly a good one).
-Atlanta Hawks set record for most 3pt Attempts in a series (if only they made more)

Some coaches will definitely be fired or on the hot seat after their team is eliminated (ask Kevin McHale)

  1. Wow I didn't think the Pacers had it in them to come back like this... but did anyone notice the Hibbert 28 point game he got away with traveling 3.5 steps 6 times and 4 steps 1 or 2 times, as well as getting away with moving screens.... Or is it just me?

NBA 2k14 Career Mode My Player 'Player Styles' Stat Caps on XBOX 360

(Had to give this guy hits and props) When creating a new career and my player for NBA 2k14 these caps and starting stats help show you which "Play Style" is what you are looking for. For all you guys that play 2k14... this shows the caps for whatever position and play style you create.... a PF "Defensive" play style, for example, starts with better defensive stats and awareness but now you can see all the different play styles for each position, each attribute, speed and quickness, shot ratings, layup and dunk ratings, defensive, physical and mental awareness and consistency. Some guards have 90 shoot in traffic another, same position has 85 and another Play Style for that position is 80. You can really fine tune what your player will become.   https://docs.zoho.com/sheet/published.do?rid=12cbmb3fea1d7cd764d859dc27c75f10e00c0 Hopefully it helps (*on the link you change positions in the bottom left) 360 Gamertag:  MetaWorldSCHIZO Always gaming

NBA Most Improved Player 2014 - Anthony Davis

2014 MOST IMPROVED PLAYER Anthony Davis 2012-2013: 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 1.8 blocks 2013-2014: 21.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 2.9 blocks This was definitely the toughest award to give out actually.  While I basically had two guys for Defensive Player, there are many a  players having breakout seasons. From Paul George sustaining his level of play from last years playoffs and improving all around to Eric Bledsoe becoming a Sun and putting up great numbers finally getting to start and play bigger minutes to Al Jefferson, a 30+ year old veteran putting up career numbers (as a result of the Bobcats offense). Add D-League/NBA bounce-around guy Gerald Green having a great season with the Suns as a starter/6th man Shooting Guard, and almost any Sun player (Dragic, Plumlee, Morris). Andre Drummond finally started and was able to stay out of foul trouble in his second season, putting up great numbers and showing how good he will be. This year was simply...

NBA 2K12 - A Great Game (plays into 2k13)

GamePlay:  9/10     The Negative-The passing has gone from one extreme to another; why Jason Kidd isn't capable of making a post entry past to Dirk who's wide open more than 50% of the time is not "sim style", especially when I make the dribble towards Dirk to create the passing angle.  The computer/AI is a bit weird, sometimes they are extremely stupid and sometimes they are genius... and of course the 3pt shooting is a bit overloaded for the CPU, it's just worth mentioning.  And the last complaint would be the "collision detection" when trying to close out and play on-ball defense.  The animations get weird and often trying to play on-ball defense (when playing against someone online) causes the guy to easily drive past you, hoepfully a patch will fix some of that.    -The Positive: Best offline simulation style Basketball game created to date.  Love playing 12 minute quarters, 48 minute games and having a real box score, real player st...
